Weekend away from home! Growing up back in Kenya, having a birthday and especially in my family was not that of a big deal. In fact, some years, the day would pass even without me or anyone else noticing it, and that was totaly okay. Due to this personal tradition, I have not been a huge fan of celebrating my birthdays. For years, I’ve only been, buying a small gift, cook nice dinner and a good bottle of Italian wine and enjoy quiet time all myself. This to me has always been a perfect way of celebrating the day I was born.
However, fast forward to today and mostly after I met Axel, I am slowly starting to make an effort and do something special. Inviting his mom for dinner and lengthy conversations, which I love by the way or maybe have a cocktail with some of my girls in the city.
This year though, I’ve managed to break my old habits and how I see it. I scheduled a spa weekend away from home as birthday gift for me tomorrow. What excites me most is that, I’m not only celebrating my birthday but also a four-year anniversary with Axel. It will be a great opportunity to have a little break from everything, and especially from books.I feel like I’m spending way too much time writing semester project and studying for Corporate Finance exam. We will also have a chance to indulge and relax. We both never been to the Hotel Viking which is located in a city up north here in Denmark, but I have seen some gorgeous pictures with stunning views and I can’t wait to pack my bag when I get home tonight.
On a different note, I will be attending an event this evening after work. We will be trying a new restaurant here in Aalborg city with other bloggers. I will keep you updated as soon as possible. What plans do you have for the weekend?
Thank you so much for reading and have a lovely Thursday.
