How To Afford Clothes As A Blogger Without Breaking Your Bank Account

One of the many questions that I get often is how to afford clothes as a blogger without breaking your bank account. I struggled when I started blogging in 2012. Back then, I would sometimes go to the shop to buy an outfit for the sake of looking cool and making a post. That has changed! You don’t need to spend a fortune on designer clothes to be a blogger. There different ways to afford clothes as a blogger that comes in handy especially if you are on a budget.

Comparing prices.

Before spending my money on clothes, I like to do quick research and see if I can get the price cheaper from another store. You will be surprised how much of a difference it makes when you find similar pieces for less more.

Thrift markets and shops

Thrifting in thrift markets or shops has become my favorite places to find affordable pieces. My recent find is a white dress that I got for 100 DKK (15 USD) which would cost me a fortune if I bought it new from the shops. Price when thrifting is very reasonable. Plus, I always find unique pieces.

Borrow from a friend or family

As I mentioned earlier, I used to buy clothes for the sake of blogging. But since that has stopped, I sometimes like to borrow from friends. I have done this several times, and it works perfectly well. For instance, I am wearing sunglasses that I borrowed from Benya. One important thing to keep in mind is being responsible and taking care of people’s stuff when you borrow them.

Sales at the end of season

I save a lot of money during sales and especially at the end of the season as there is always a massive reduction in prices like 70% – 80% on almost everything. The shops are changing to a new season, and I find it is the best time of the year to shop.

Student discount

There are some shops that offer student discount like Asos. As a student who has little income, I think this is another excellent chance to take advantage of saving a few bucks when buying new items.

Sell old clothes

I don’t like to sell my clothes as I prefer taking them back to Kenya and giving them to people who need them. But, if you have some pieces that are decent and have not been used for a long time, it is time to clean out your closet. Sell the clothes and use the money to buy what you need and will frequently wear.

So, that is it. A few ways on how to afford clothes as a blogger without breaking your bank account.
