After spending two days in Karen, Nairobi we drove to Naivasha. It was a chilly and cold day. Our first stop was at the Rift Valley Escarpment viewpoint which was covered in fog but started to clear out a few minutes after we arrived. Second stop was at the tiniest church along Naivasha road before proceeding with our journey. Later in the day, we went sailing with high hopes of seeing the hippos at Kamere beach in Naivasha.
Next day, we hired bikes and biked 8km at Hells Gate National Park. Biking at the park with a guide gives a different kind of experience. You get close to the animals, and it is much more fun than sitting in a tour van and driving around. Our tour guide was informative and super helpful. We hiked the gorge which took almost an hour. A quick advice if you want to visit Hell’s Gate National Park; wear light clothes and comfortable shoes. The hike is not a luxury stroll but more like an intense exercise of the day.
We visited the Olkaria geothermal spa which is inside the park and had a late lunch. Everyone else except Axel’s dad and I had a quick dip in the naturally heated spring waters. They claimed how relaxing it was. But, taking a power nap was equally relaxing and refreshing.
