At the beginning of every year, I like to ask myself “ what do I want to achieve by the end year?” Usually, I plan and make a list of goals that interest me. This year though, I thought of not only motivating myself accomplish something, but also YOU and all women to push and set plans that will help us become a better version of ourselves in the new year.
Build self- discipline
Building Self-discipline is essential when we want to accomplish our goals or plans. In my opinion, it is the art of knowing what you want to achieve, when to do it and how to do it. It requires one to start with small and realistic steps. First, make a clear plan/list of goals. Have an overview of how, and when you want to accomplish them. Acknowledge any weakness that might affect the process when building self-discipline. The idea is to practice the will power of avoiding even the slightest alluring temptations. Keep planning and stick to your plans.
Save more money
I don’t know about you, but I like saving money in a piggy bank and of course in my savings account. After saving for such a long time, last year, I was able to buy my dream camera; the Canon EOS 6D II. Committing oneself to save a few bucks aside every month can take you a long way. You never know, you might save enough for a vacation or something else you have been dreaming about for a long time
Detach yourself from social media
As much as I love social media, I realize that I don’t have to post everything online. Of course, it is good to engage with my audience continually. But, again, it is equally important to take time off these social channels. Connecting with my close people without the urge of wanting to check on notification is genuinely a pleasant feeling for me these days. I blame it on age. But honestly, take a moment away for a day or more. You will be shocked to realize how much time we waste on social media.
Step out of your comfort zone
I am guilty of being too comfortable with things that I do. Though I do like to try new things, fear, sometimes, gets into my way stopping me from challenging myself. The idea of getting out of our comfort zone is to learn something new. And perhaps, pushing ourselves to find out what we are capable of doing. Taking one thing at a time can give room for creativity, foster productivity and boost our confidence.
Take time to BREATH
Skipping back to my younger self, I never used to worry about life. I depended on my mom who took care of everything. There is so much to worry about as I grow older and life gets busier. The question is, how often do we take the time to breathe and let out all the worries that pile on our shoulders? If there is one thing I want to be better at this year, is to take the time to breathe. To slow down, be aware of the surrounding and develop a sense of appreciation.
Accept Let-downs and Learn from them
We strive to be the best versions of ourselves. But, when let-downs strike, we react with negative thoughts. I, myself, and in such situations, I get overwhelmed with stressed. But the thing is, how can we overcome let-downs? Personally, I do believe in change of the mindset. Asking oneself, how did this happen? What or how can I learn from this? These are just some of the question that will help in reflecting back. My overall point is, accept let-downs and let them be your teacher.
